Customer Notes is a Chrome extension that highlights user-provided names on webpages and can display a local toast with user-provided notes. This policy explains what data is handled and how.
Summary
- No data is collected or transmitted off your device.
- All settings and notes are stored locally using
chrome.storage.local.
- The extension scans visible text on pages to find your configured name substrings; scanning happens entirely on-device.
- You can disable highlighting/toasts or ignore specific URLs in the Options page.
Data We Handle (Locally)
The extension may store the following information on your device only:
- Customer name substrings you enter and the notes you associate with them.
- Feature preferences (enable/disable highlighting or toast).
- Highlight color, toast position, font size, dismissal mode, and duration.
- “Ignore URL” substrings (pages where the extension should do nothing).
This data is used solely to render highlights and/or a toast locally on pages you visit. It is never shared with us or any third party.
Page Content
To highlight configured names and show your notes, the extension reads visible text on the page in your browser. It does not read input/textarea fields, hidden elements, or scripts/styles, and it does not transmit page content off-device.
Data Sharing & Selling
We do not share, sell, or transfer your data to any third party.
Retention & Control
- You can add, edit, or delete customers, notes, and settings at any time in the Options page.
- Uninstalling the extension removes all locally stored data.
Permissions
- storage: to save your settings and notes locally via
chrome.storage.local.
- Host access (content script): to read visible text and render highlights/toasts on pages you visit.
You can add “Ignore URL” substrings in Options to disable the extension on specific pages.
Security
The extension executes only packaged code (no remote code). There are no analytics, tracking scripts, or external servers.
Changes
We may update this policy to reflect improvements or legal requirements. Material changes will update the effective date above.
